She’s there! Painted monocoque

April 23rd, 2009

dscf1008-klein.jpgWhat happened to our monocoque? Our beautiful black, carbon textured monocoque has been completely transformed by Custom Painting Holland. In less then a week, they have created an incredible peace of art. Curious what it looks like? Come and see at our Roll-Out on the 10th of June, on the Delft market.

From now on we will work hard to put our car together as fast as possible. The first few meters are expected for the 10th of May. Lets hope everything goes well.

Teamvan

April 17th, 2009

DUT BusA giant relieve for all teammembers who have made their car available for team purposes in the past years. Because, lending your car once means lending it more often. Thanks to TMC Group the team now has its own team van! The Mercedes Sprinter has been leased by TMC and lend to the team until august. TMC has also sponsored the stickers, so  you know when DUTRacing is overtaking you on the road!

The Delft Truck will be there!

April 10th, 2009

dafxf105.jpgSince 2006 our team brings along a large truck with lathing-, milling-, welding- and other equiment to the events. During the past years, numerous teams have been aided by DUT Racing. Partially because of this assistance our team has won the Sportsmanship award 3 times since 2006!

This year DAF Trucks has offered us to sponsor the well known ‘Delft Truck’. On behalf of DUT Racing and probably numerous other teams: thanks! Thanks to DAF this year we will again have the opportunity to have a rolling workshop.

We gladly help other teams, because we believe in an event with the best competition on track as possible. It’s a pity to see collegues drop out because of mechanical failure, that’s why we always help teams, even our greatest opponents.

Carbon rim prototype

April 2nd, 2009

roald_velg.jpgThis week, the prototype of our first home-made single piece full carbon rim is produced. The rim is entirely designed and produced by team members of DUT Racing for an exercise at the Master Design & Production of Composite Structures.

The rim is produced with the VARTM (Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Moulding) method, that our team knows well. The monocoque, intake and fuel tank are also produced with this method. This method is very cost efficient in comparison with other production methods. The rims are a lot more stiff than the old ones, whilst staying at the same weight.

We especially want to thank professor Adriaan Beukers of the TU Delft Faculty of Aerospace Technology for supporting this project by sponsoring the production of the moulds.
