38_FSUK.jpgWith the DUT04 car, the team continued with ‘the Delft Concept’ established the previous season. Based on the successes achieved with the revolutionary DUT03, the team again focused on a lightweight single-cylinder car. The design ideas adopted were similar to the previous seasons and were used effectively.

With the DUT04 the team created the lightest Formula Student car ever seen at the time. Weighing in at an extraordinary 125 kg, the car stunned the competition. The judges of the Design Award were also impressed by the team’s achievements in executing its initial concept. The team was awarded 2nd in the event, narrowly missing out on first place.

The team also achieved its best result up to then, coming in 10th overall the team was very satisfied. Their chances of achieving a top 5 position were dashed by reliability issues in the all important Endurance Event. However, after posting such a strong result ‘the Delft Concept’ proved its worth, convincing other teams of its possibilities and assuring the DUT team that they had developed a competitive concept.
