The DUT09 has a completely new design with a few big changes compared to the DUT08. New rules have defined minimum dimensions for several cross sections of the monocoque. The monocoque has been adjusted to this new template. The spring-damper system was relocated from the top to the bottom of the fore body and the cockpit was enlarged significantly as a result of the new rules. Also the ergonomics have been adapted, the steering wheel has been set more vertical and the entire driver position has been improved. Furthermore a virtually backlash free steering system has been installed.

All electronic systems have been designed and built by the team itself, including the ECU, Data Acquisition System and load cells in every suspension arm on one side of the car. The car has lightweight LiFePo4 batteries which are 3,5 kilos lighter than the regular lead acid battery.
