Formula Student Germany Tuesdag: Day one at Hockenheim

August 1st, 2012

Today, Tuesday July 29th was the first day at Hockenheim. The second group of the team together with  the Delft Truck arrived for Formula Student Germany (FSG) 2012! Below is a report of what has happened today:

The team is sleeping at the campsite next to the race circuit of Hockenheim. We have set up two army tents which we will use as kitchen and dining area throughout the upcoming week. We will overnight with more than 50 team members at the campsite of Hockenheim.

After this, the pit had to be set up. This year we worked together with Pink’s on a new design for the pits. Due to the big banners in the pit, it has become a fine and quit workspace. Furthermore, due to free space for the cabinets and toolboxes, the tools are always within reach. At the same time there is an explanation of the concept of DUT12 on the banners, which enables both the judges and other teams to see how we have conceived the design of the DUT12.

After setting up the pits it was 21.00 and it was time for the opening ceremony. This year, FSG is a very  special event, because the winners of almost all Formula Student competitions in the world participate in FSG2012, there also is at least one team from each continent participating. This promises to be a tough and fun competition!

Tonight the DUT12 will arrive at Hockenheim. We let the car depart later from Delft,  in order to gain an extra day of testing. The test day went very well, which gave us more confidence in the competition. From tomorrow on we will be busy with scrutineering.
