It is still something to get used to, seeing the electric cars zooming around over the circuit, like this afternoon in which the Electric cars also performed their Autocross event. In the Autocross event every car gets two runs of two laps to set the best time. In the end eight electric cars where able to set a time and we were impressed to see that the times were very competitive when compared to the conventional combustion cars. After the electric cars it was time again for the conventional combustion cars. The best time set by an electric cars was the time of GreenTeam Stuttgart: 53,86. It was already called a time that could not be beaten by combustion cars. But the first one to beat that time was the team of Michigan and more cars followed. The new time-to-beat was the time set by Global Formula Racing: 52,46. After our first run we came to a time of 52,56, so pretty close. The time of GFR was not beaten until our second run, wherein we set the best lap time of 52,1! It turned out that is was also the best time of the day.

FSE Endurance

Today also there was the Endurance event of the Formula Student Electric. The organization turned it into a very nice night race which started at 10 o’clock in the afternoon. The track was lighted by enormous balloons filled with helium. The fact that the electric cars make nearly no noise and the beautifull light made this event nearly a romantic one which is very special for the Formula Student! To compensate for the lack of noise every team choose a song to be set at their laps, but we will not speak about their taste.
