Teamfilosofie

Het DUT Racing team voor 2011/2012 bestaat uit 75 enthousiaste teamleden die dit jaar zullen werken aan een snellere, efficiënte en betrouwbare auto te produceren. Industrieel ontwerpers, lucht- en ruimtevaart techniekers, werktuigbouwers, elektrotechniekers, eerstejaars studenten, promovendi uit binnen- en buitenland, werken allemaal samen in dit project. Dit maakt het DUT Racing Team de grootste en het meest pluriforme team van de TU Delft en de competitie.

Educatie

Het hoofddoel van het team is educatie. Ieder jaar komen er veel nieuwe leden bij het team. De meeste van hen hebben geen of weinig ervaring in het ontwerpen en bouwen van een auto. Daarom wordt aan het begin van ieder jaar, verschillende colleges en workshops georganiseerd om de eerstejaars de essentiële kennis en vaardigheden aan te leren. Ervaren leden assisteren de nieuwkomers gedurende het jaar, om zo de kwaliteit te waarborgen en de nieuwkomers van alles bij te leren. Veel ouderejaars geven aan dat zij hun DUT Racing jaar of jaren een van de meest leerzame ervaring is van hun studie.

Teamwork

In één jaar een auto, ontwerpen, bouwen, testen en racen, met een team van 75 mensen, waarvan 30 nieuwelingen, vergt erg veel teamwork. Samenwerking is ongelofelijk belangrijk om de auto op tijd af te hebben terwijl alle onderdelen perfect op elkaar afgestemd zijn, hier is geen ruimte voor fouten. Daarom investeert het team ook tijd en middelen in teambuilding activiteiten. Regelmatige kart uitjes, team weekenden en aanwezigheid op ’t hok (kantoor) dragen sterk bij de sfeer en onderlinge communicatie. Al onze inzet gaat ook niet ongemerkt aan de organisaties van de evenementen voorbij. In de afgelopen drie jaar, heeft het team drie maal de sportmanship award gewonnen.

Sustainable Engineering

Duurzaamheid is tegenwoordig “hot” in de wetenschap en maatschappij. Het team begrijpt hoe belangrijk dat is en neemt dit aspect mee in het ontwerpen van de auto en daarom is ook dit jaar wee net zo als vorig gekozen om een elektrische auto te produceren.

Kortom, het DUT Racing Team is één van de top teams in de Formula Student competitie. We leiden top ingenieurs op, hebben een gezellig team en hebben een leidinggevende rol binnen de competitie op het gebied van duurzaamheid, terwijl er ook evenementen gewonnen worden!

Team philosophy

The DUT Racing Team for 2011/2012 consists out of 75 team members who will work together to produce a new, faster, more efficient and reliable race car. Industrial designers, aerospace engineers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, first year students, PhD’s, foreign and domestic they all work together on this project. This makes the DUT Racing team the largest and most varying team of the TU Delft and the competition.

Education

The main goal of the team is education. Every year many new students start on a year of Formula Student, most of them have no or very little experience in designing and building a race car. Even though, they are allowed and needed to design a part of the car in their first year. Therefore colleges and workshops are organized at the start of every season to teach the team vital knowledge and skills. Older members of the team will assist the newcomers during the year, assuring the quality of the work and further educating the new engineers. Most members indicate that their year, or years, was one of the most educating experiences of their study.

Teamwork

Building a car with 75 people, of which about 30 new students, and only one year of time, requires good teamwork. Cooperation is extremely important to ensure all parts are finished in time and fit with the other parts, there is no room for errors. Therefore the team also invests time and means in teambuilding activities. Regular kart-outings, team weekends and presence at ‘t Hok (the office) improve atmosphere and communication. All our efforts don’t go unnoticed by other teams and the organization of events, in the previous three years the team won the team spirit award three times.

Sustainable Engineering

A very important topic in science en society is sustainability. With the current change of environment everything should become increasingly efficient. The DUT Racing Team understands the importance of sustainability and therefore takes on the challenge to produce an electric Formula Student car.

Overall, the DUT Racing Team is one of the top teams in the Formula Student competition. We educate top engineers, have a good team, show good sportsmanship, have a leading role in sustainable racing and win at important events!
