Each year, the DUT Racing Team accepts the challenge to completely design and build a new race car in 9 months. This will be no different in the academic year 2012-2013. And you can help us with that.
DUT Racing is a team of about 79 students. The main goal of our project is education: as a member of the DUT Racing Team you become a better engineer or manager and you experience what it is like to work in a multidisciplinary team. And is there a nicer way of achieving this, than by building your own race car and taking it to a competition with hundreds of teams from all around the world?
One year at DUT Racing
With the whole team, you aim for one thing: victory at the Formula Student competitions in Silverstone and Hockenheim. To achieve this, you don’t just need a quick car: Formula Student is a design competition. The car is examined by a jury from the automotive industry, from the conceptual level all the way down to each little bolt. Also, a fictitious business plan has to be written and presented. Apart from that, naturally the car is raced on the twisty and challenging tracks that are typical to Formula Student. more about the competition
With its 79 members, the team is organized like a small company. This is because we do everything ourselves: the car is completely designed by students, the parts are produced by team members, and even the drivers are just people from the team. There also are many PR activities and a lot of sponsors have to be found to be able to build a good car. Obviously all this needs to be well directed. So besides engineers, the team also needs a number of managers (the core team) to ensure that everyone can work together in a coordinated way.
